Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Posture Hero ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use the Posture Hero mobile application (the "App"). It applies to all users of the App worldwide.

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

We are committed to complying with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other regional privacy laws where applicable.

Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide a useful experience. Here's what we may collect:

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any health records from Apple Health or Google Fit unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature.

How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
  • Track your posture streaks and progress across sessions
  • Send you in-app notifications and reminders (only those you enable)
  • Respond to your support requests and feedback
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Conduct internal analytics to understand how features are used (in aggregate, not individually targeted)

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

Sensor & On-Device Data

Posture Hero reads your device's accelerometer and gyroscope to detect tilt and posture in real time. This sensor data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Motion sensor data is ephemeral — it is used only in the moment to trigger posture alerts and is immediately discarded. We do not store, log, or share raw sensor readings. Aggregate statistics (e.g., "good posture for 42 minutes today") may be stored locally on your device or, if you opt in, synced to your account for cross-device access.

You can revoke motion sensor access at any time through your device's system settings. Revoking access will disable posture detection but will not affect other App features.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We work with trusted third-party vendors (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
  • App platforms: Apple and Google receive purchase and subscription information as part of their platform billing systems.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Posture Hero, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, which will be bound by this policy.

In all cases, we share only the minimum data necessary for the specific purpose.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. Specifically:

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account.
  • Usage and progress data is retained for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Crash logs are retained for up to 90 days and then automatically purged.
  • Anonymised aggregate data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at [email protected] or use the "Delete Account" option in the App's Settings screen.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection / Restriction: Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Posture Hero is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete the relevant information.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of any security vulnerability or breach related to the App, please notify us immediately at [email protected].

Third-Party Services

The App may use the following categories of third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Analytics: To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the App (e.g., session length, feature adoption). Analytics are configured to avoid collecting personally identifiable information where possible.
  • Crash reporting: To identify and fix bugs quickly. Crash reports contain technical data only, not personal content.
  • Cloud infrastructure: Servers and databases that store account and sync data, located in the EU or US with appropriate data transfer safeguards in place.
  • App platforms: Apple App Store and Google Play Store manage billing and distribution. Their privacy policies apply to those interactions.

We do not integrate with social media platforms, ad networks, or data brokers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you via an in-app notice or by email to the address associated with your account, and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
